Bert Blake Trophy: ( 72 )

Singles knockout, matchplay format, full handicap difference. Limited to the first 128 names entered on the competition entry sheet, on a one member one-name basis.

Bishopswood Bogey: ( Q1, 72 )

Matchplay against the course, full handicap allowance.

Bishopswood Rosebowl: ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

Best 16 Net scores from the June Medals. Singles knockout. Full handicap difference.
Where more than 16 net scores qualify, these will be reduced to 16 by play-off of the highest equal qualifying scores at the next months weekend medal.

Bishopswood Salver: ( Q1, 72 )

Stableford format, full handicap allowance.

Captains Day Cup: ( 72, 5+4 )

Format to be decided by the Captain prior to the event.

Captains Shield: ( Q1, 72, 53, 5+4 )

Strokeplay format, full handicap allowance. Entry limited to Captain and Members who are Past Captains of Bishopswood Golf Club, or were winners of Club competitions during the previous year, as determined by the Presentation Night list. List of eligible participants will be posted on or before 31st March.

5 Day Members Captain's Prize: ( 53, 5+4 )

Stableford format, full handicap allowance.
N.B. 5+ members playing in the Captains day cup will not be eligible for this competition.

Charity Cup (Four Ball Better Ball): ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

Stableford format, full handicap allowance. In aid of charities nominated by the Committee from time to time. Awarded to the Members Team, with the best Stableford score on Charity day.

Club Championships: ( Q1, 72, 53, 5+4 )

Strokeplay format.

Scratch

Best Gross score over 36 holes (played on one day).

Entry Qualification:
Gross 81 or better in a strokeplay medal competition, played from the White or Red Tees as appropriate, limited to a maximum playing field of 48. Entry will be to lowest gross scores; countback rules apply where necessary.
The previous years's winner will automatically qualify.
The players with the next best gross score will substitute withdrawals.
Qualifying medals will run from the previous year's Scratch Championship to the weekend medal competition prior to the current Championship.

Handicap

Best Net score over 36 holes (played on one day), full handicap allowance.

Entry Qualification:
Best 48 net scores attained in a strokeplay medal competition, played from White or Red Tees as appropriate.
Countback rules will apply where necessary.
The previous years's winner will automatically qualify.
The players with the next best score will substitute withdrawals.
Qualifying medals will run from the previous year's Handicap Championship to the weekend medal competition prior to the current Championship.

Club Player Of The Year: ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

Stableford format, full handicap allowance.
Open to members who represented Bishopswood Golf Club in friendly Inter Club matches, (Ladies, Mixed, Seniors & Gents) and Juniors who played in the Juniors league.

Divisional Shootout: ( 72 )

Qualification will be the last eight in each Divisional Knockout, or by selection (decided by the Committee).

Gareth Owen Putter: ( 72 )

Stableford format, 7/8 handicap allowance, with a maximum of 18 shots.

George Blake Foursomes Cup: ( 72 )

Foursomes knockout, handicap allowance = 1/2 of the full difference between the aggregate handicap of either side. Limited to the first 64 pairings entered on the competition entry sheet, or as the Committee may direct, on the basis that members may only enter their own pairing.

Goudge Goblets (open to ladies only): ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

Strokeplay format, full handicap allowance. Running eclectic played over two rounds. Best Net score at each hole to count. First round to be a qualifying medal.

Hon-Sec Trophy: ( 53, 5+4 )

Singles knockout, full handicap difference.

Ladies Coronation Foursomes: ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

Foursomes strokeplay format, handicap allowance = 1/2 of the combined playing handicaps.

Ladies Matchplay: ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

Singles knockout, full handicap difference.

Ladies v Seniors v Gents v Juniors: ( 72, 5+4 )

Stableford format, full handicap allowance. Teams of six, winners are team with most points.
Competition open to 5 day members if number of entrants allow.

Masters Trophy

Awarded for best accumulated score from week-end medals. Points awarded based on top 10.

Mixed Foursomes: ( 72, 5+4 )

Foursome Strokeplay format. Handicap allowance 1/2 aggregate playing handicap of the partners (maximum 24 shots). Open to 5 day members if numbers of entrants allow.

Mixed Greensomes: ( 72, 5+4 )

Stableford format, combined handicap is obtained by adding 2/5 of higher handicap to 3/5 of lower handicap (see table in Spikes Bar). Handicap allowance 7/8 of combined (maximum 21 shots). Competition open to 5 day members if number of entrants allow.

Odd Ball 3 Club Trophy: ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

Stableford format, full handicap allowance. Played with three clubs, one of which must be a putter.

Per Adua Ad Astra Trophy (open to Seniors only): ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

Stableford format, full handicap allowance. 18 hole (can be 2 x 9) played during period of competition. Entry sheet must be completed before play commences.

Ryder Cup Competition: ( 72 )

Bi-Annual competition played in Ryder Cup years. Shotgun Start, Teams of four. Format decided by the Captain prior to event.

Singles knockout, no handicap allowance. Appropriate divisions based on handicaps as at May 1st.

    • Singles knockout, full handicap allowance. Played from Yellow Tees.
    Open to members who represented Bishopswood Golf Club in Seniors Inter Club matches in the previous year.

  • 5Seniors Stableford (Open to Seniors only): ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

    • Stableford format, full handicap allowance. Trophy awarded to the player with the highest aggregate score from one less than the maximum number of qualifying events. Run between March and October.

    In accordance with Sponsors Conditions.

    Stalwarts Trophy: ( 72 )

    Four ball better ball matchplay, handicap allowance = lowest in-group to concede strokes to other three based on 3/4 difference between the full handicaps.
    Limited to the first 64 pairings entered on the competition entry sheet, or as the Committee may direct, on the basis that members may only enter their own pairing.

    Summer Stableford: ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

    Played between May 1st and September 30th, best 6 cards from 10, but not to include any cards in respect of Medals or other identified competitions.
    In the event of a tie countback rules of best card(s) will apply.

    Tadley Cup: ( 72 )

    Singles knockout, matchplay format, full handicap allowance. Limited to the first 128 names entered on the competition entry sheet, on a one member one-name basis.

    Tom Slights Memorial Trophy

    Awarded for best accumuated score from three mid month medals. Points awarded based on top 10.

    Veterans Trophy: ( Q1, 72, 53, 5+4 )

    Stableford format, played from Yellow Tees, full handicap allowance. Entry limited to members aged 65 and over on April 1st.

    Whale Shield (Open to Juniors only)

    Stableford format, full handicap allowance, maximum 54. Prizes for best gross, net (overall winner is player with best stableford score). Prize also for best non-handicapped player, gross score.

    Winter Eclectic - Poppy Appeal & Whitbread Cup: ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

    Played between November 1st and March 31st, Running Medal with a maximum of 15 cards. Entry sheet must be completed before play commences. First entry to be made before January 1st and must be 18 holes, after which 9 hole cards may be submitted, but must stipulate whether playing (F)ront or (B)ack at time of signing entry sheet, and properly recorded on card returned. Each entry will constitute a card whether playing 9 or 18 holes. Two competitions Best Gross (Whitbread Cup) and Best Net (Poppy Appeal Cup).
    Handicap allowance will be 1/2 current handicap as at commencement of competition.
    In the event of a tie countback rules apply.

    5 Day Members Winter Knockout: ( 53, 5+4 )

    Singles knockout, full handicap difference.

    Winter Stableford: ( 72, 53, 5+4 )

    Played between November 1st and March 31st, best 4 cards from a maximum of 15, full handicap allowance.
    May be played in conjunction with an Eclectic card but must be an 18-hole entry (two 9-hole cards not acceptable). Entry sheet must be completed before play commences, first entry to be made before January 1st.
    In the event of a tie countback rules of the best card(s) will apply.
